Infected teeth can be problematic in that sometimes they don’t necessarily let you know there’s an issue until things become advanced. This is where routine dentist appointments become vital.

During your bi-annual appointments, your dentist here in Reading will check your mouth for any signs of decay and treat this before it evolves into an infection.

If you notice any of the following symptoms, make an appointment with us right away rather than waiting until your next routine appointment:

• A persistent bad taste in your mouth.
• A tooth that appears to be darkening in colour.
• Extreme and persistent tooth sensitivity.
• A lump (abscess) in your mouth along the gum line.

Time is of the essence when a tooth becomes infected.

If something doesn’t feel quite right with a tooth, or you’ve noticed any of the symptoms listed above, come in and see us. The sooner we see you, the more likely it is that we will be able to save your tooth.

As dentists, we’re continuously repeating the word ‘prevention’ to our patients here in Reading (we’re sorry if we sound like a broken record!). However, it’s a point worth reiterating as teeth cannot self-repair as other parts of the body can.
